BAGAMOYO BABY ORPHANAGE

In partnership with the Baobab Home, an NGO based in Bagamoyo, Tanzania, East Africa, the Earth Rising Foundation has helped in the initial site design and building of an orphan care facility. Lead by Adam Perry and Elke Cole, natural building designers, a team from Canada worked to build the first earthen structure for Terri and Caito with Baobab to use in a larger project plan of several buildings towards sustaining a “village” environment on a 15-acre farm.

The Baobab Home provides interim care for abandoned babies and children in the hope that foster or adoptive care will be found. Their orphanage accepts sick and healthy children regardless of their HIV status. The Baobab Home was founded in 2004 and operates programs to feed and clothe orphaned and other vulnerable children in addition to sponsoring several young adults and children with secondary education.

A partnership between the Earth Rising Foundation and the Baobab Home continues to exist with future building work to be done in September of 2009.

For those interested in building in Tanzania during this time please contact
Adam Perry or Elke Cole for project details.
